Inspiring the Next Generation of Tech Innovators

Tech Manitoba is excited to announce our 2nd annual MbTech Week Scholarship, an initiative to inspire and support high school students passionate about technology and innovation.

Students are invited to apply for the MbTech Week Scholarship, which will be announced and awarded during the week of February 22 – 28, 2026.

Scholarship Details

  • Award Amount: $1,000 per recipient
  • Number of Scholarships: Two
  • Disbursement: Recipients will be honored at MbTech Week’s DARE Innovation Awards event on February 24th, 2026

Application Timeline

  • Applications Open: November 15th, 2025
  • Deadline to Apply: January 31st, 2026

Eligibility Requirements

  • Who Can Apply: High school students (Grades 9–12) enrolled in any Manitoba high school

Submission Requirements

Application Form: Complete the application form below paying close attention to the following questions and the evaluation criteria listed here.

Personal Statement (3500 characters max – approximately one page) 

  1. Why are you interested in technology?
  2. Describe a time you used technology to solve a problem or create something new.
  3. How have you explored tech so far? Participation in STEM/tech clubs, competitions, coding camps, community projects, or self-taught learning.  Please explain any tech projects you have worked on. 

Building the Future (3500 characters max – approximately one page) 

  1. What do you hope to achieve with technology in the future.  ex. What is one way you would like to use technology to make life better for people in Manitoba?” How do you think you personally align with our theme this year of Made in Manitoba. Building the Future
  2. How would this scholarship support your future goals in tech ex. post-secondary/further education.

Reference letter from a teacher/ mentor/community leader (3500 characters max – approximately one page)

Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be reviewed based on the following:

  • Passion for Technology & Learning: Curiosity, initiative, self-driven projects
  • Potential Impact: What do you hope to do with your tech skills now or in the future for your community or Manitoba
  • Commitment to Education: Plans to pursue post-secondary in a tech-related field
  • Equity Lens: Consideration for students who may not have equal access to opportunities but show strong motivation.
